In October 2024, Comrade Sean Scott represented the Barbados Workers’ Union at the 46th International Transport Federation (ITF) Global Congress in Marrakech, Morocco—the first Congress held in the Arabic world. Under the theme “Moving the World Forward”, the Congress addressed global issues such as climate justice, automation, workers' rights, and the critical importance of protecting the right to strike.

The BWU celebrated the election of Comrade Miracle-Ann King as the Young Transport Workers’ Co-Representative for the Dockers Section. The Congress also marked a regional shift, as the Caribbean now forms part of a new bloc with North America, securing increased representation on the ITF Executive Board. With major policies like the Marrakech Policy on Flags of Convenience adopted, and powerful motions passed on equality, maritime safety, and support for Ukraine’s transport workers, Comrade Scott ensured BWU’s voice remained present in shaping the global labour agenda. His participation reaffirmed Barbados’ commitment to international labour solidarity and the defence of workers’ rights worldwide.
