During the 113th Conference of the International Labour Organisation, the BWU’s advocacy on the international stage was well-observed.

General Secretary Toni Moore championed this argument very cogently on behalf of workers the world over when she represented the International Trade Union Confederation at the Annual Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice which took place on June 12, 2025.  She emphasized the importance of moving beyond GDP, giving attention to peoples’ human rights and freedoms, gaining access to quality, public services, social security, fair wages, and maintaining the balance between social, economic and environmental well-being. In making the point, she acknowledged that the international labour movement’s call for a new social contract, is one for the realignment of the relationship between a state and its citizens.
