What is collective bargaining? It’s the process by which unions like BWU negotiate with employers on behalf of workers to secure better wages, benefits, working conditions, and job security.
The benefits of collective bargaining are clear:
Better pay
Stronger protections
Clear grievance procedures
Increased respect on the job
Better employment benefits
If your workplace isn’t yet represented, reach out to learn how your team can become a recognised Division or Collective Bargaining Group within the BWU. More voices mean more power at the table.
Safety and Health at Work
Health and Safety is everyone’s priority. The Barbados Workers’ Union has increased its efforts in educating workers on the Safety and Health at work legislation (SHAW ACT).From hosting our Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Conference to expanding in-house training across divisions, BWU continues to prioritise worker safety.
We have trained dozens of workers between 2024 and 2025, and more are set to benefit in the coming year.
